Shadow Tag

Shadow Tag

Did you know that shadows have been fascinating humans for centuries, often appearing in myths and legends? Playing shadow tag lets you turn these mysterious dark shapes into a playful game, where you can chase and capture shadows, making it a fun way to enjoy the outdoors and explore how light and movement create these ever-changing silhouettes.

What do you do?

  1. Choose one child to be "it," the tagger who will chase others.
  2. Define the play area to ensure everyone stays within a safe and visible space.
  3. Explain the Rules:
    • The tagger tries to step on other players' shadows to tag them.
    • Once someone's shadow is tagged, they become the new tagger.
    • Players can dodge and move to avoid having their shadows stepped on, but must stay within the boundaries.
  4. The tagger counts to five to give others a head start, then begins chasing. Players run, jump, and dodge to keep their shadows away from the tagger.
