Mr. Wagner’s class was able to take part in 4 additional fieldtrips due to the generous support of SaskOutdoors and Sask Lotteries. 27 students took part as well as 4 adults. Before the trip, Leave No Trace Ethics were discussed in class and students were encouraged to practice them on each trip. Students were not allowed to use personal devices or other electronics on the trips. At Beaver Creek Conservation Area we took part in a cross country ski interpretive program. At Blue Mountain students participated in numerous outdoor education activities. Activities included hiking, wildlife observing, ziplining, and team building. In the canoe course, students received an introduction to paddling technique. At Wanuskewin students learned about sustainable practices of First Nations traditional way of life. Through the programs, students developed a deeper respect and interest in the environment and outdoor education. After the trips, students were encouraged to spend more time in the outdoors with their family and friends and become more active in protecting the planet.
On behalf of myself and my students thank you for your generosity. The trips were a highlight of our school year.
Sincerely,
Curtis Wagner
