Nature Parade

Nature Parade

Parades have been a part of human culture for thousands of years, often celebrating seasonal changes, harvests, or community events. A nature parade is a playful way to celebrate fall while exploring creativity and the outdoors.

What do you do:

  1. Go outside and collect natural materials such as sticks, leaves, pinecones, acorns, and grasses. Only pick what is on the ground.
  2. Use these items to decorate crowns, staffs, or other wearable or carryable items. Organize a parade route through a safe outdoor space and encourage children to march, dance, and display their creations. You can add music, chant, or create movements inspired by the natural materials
  3. Invite participants to share the story or meaning behind their creations as they march.

What do you need:

  1. Natural materials collected outdoors such as leaves, sticks, pinecones, acorns, and grasses
  2. Optional craft supplies like string, ribbon, tape, or glue for decorating
  3.  Safe outdoor space for marching
  4.  Optional musical instruments or percussion items

Safety considerations

Ensure the parade route is free of obstacles and hazards. Supervise children when handling sticks, pinecones, or other potentially sharp materials. Remind participants to march carefully and watch where they step. Leave no trace, only use materials found on the ground.
