We are Hiring! Outdoor Play Coordinator

SaskOutdoors is accepting proposals for a contract Outdoor Play Coordinator effective mid- August until February 10, 2023, with the possibility of renewal.  A review will be conducted by October 15, 2022.

This position will be overseen by the Outdoor Play Working Group. The SaskOutdoors General Manager will be the direct supervisor.  The purpose of the Outdoor Play Committee is to identify and lead action toward identified goals that impact outdoor play—with its risks—policy in Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities include:

  • Online and in person training workshops for staff of municipalities, Districts for Sport, Culture and Recreation, regional and urban parks, as well outdoor play practitioners, teachers and parents;
    Social media presence and campaigns to encourage and inspire outdoor play;
    Free online speaker series that features experts and best practices;
    Contributions to SaskOutdoors’ monthly e-newsletter to share best practices and tools;
    Presentations of outdoor play best practices at conferences, Districts for Culture, Sport and Recreation, municipalities, school divisions and others;
    Updating SaskOutdoors website content related to outdoor play; 
    Developing long-term plans for outdoor play in Saskatchewan and identifying and pursuing funding sources;
    Coordinating data collection surveys;
    Completion on funding reports as needed;
    Other tasks as assigned by the Working Group and that evolve as this work evolves.  
  • This is a part-time contracted position of approximately 10 hours per week.  The contractor will be expected to provide their own computer, internet, home office space and phone.  Applicants must be residents of Saskatchewan. Additional expenses, like mileage/printing supplies, will be reimbursed with prior approval.
