Remote First Aid Course near Regina (20 hours)
Apr 16, 2021 - Apr 18, 2021
This 20-hour Remote First Aid Course (formerly known as Wilderness First Aid) challenges students to apply standard first aid skills in more realistic scenarios. Students are taught to improvise, critically think, and to anticipate and manage outdoor stressors often experienced in emergencies in remote and wilderness settings. A large emphasis will be on navigating proper patient assessments, improvising first aid applications, and planning patient care strategies in austere environments. The majority of this course is taught outside, allowing students to explore their skill sets with environmental challenges, adding to the overall learning experience. Students will be expected to bring personal day packs so that improvising can be relatable to individual gear and activities.
The course will be led by Colin Frey with Renewed by Nature.
The minimum age is 16 years. No previous first aid certification is required.
A minimum of 6 participants is needed to run the course.
Please be aware that there is a significant outside component to Wilderness First Aid so expect to spend time outdoors during the course.
