Family Paddle: Learn to Canoe with Kids

SaskOutdoors invites families to meet at the Wascana Marina in Regina on August 25th at 2:00 pm for a family paddle. The event will start with a 10-15 minute introduction to paddling with kids, including canoe technique and safety. Once everyone is in their canoes, we will have a photo scavenger hunt that will allow families to go for a short paddle and have some fun. At 3:15 pm we will meet at Willow Island where refreshments and a snack will be provided and family activities will be available. We will return to Wascana Marina by 5:00 p.m.

Cost

SaskOutdoors Members: $10

Non-Members: $20 (If you are not a SaskOutdoors member and would like to learn more, visit here).

The cost includes a drink/snack, access to Willow Island, canoe instruction and family activities. The first 5 registrants will be provided with a free canoe/paddles rental (courtesy of Fresh Air Experience and SaskOutdoors). Additional registrants will need to rent their own canoe from the Wascana Marina at a cost of $20/hour. UPDATE: Free canoe rentals are now full. New registrants will need to rent their own canoe from the marina.

Space is limited to 20 canoes so register early!

Please note that participants will be required to sign waivers. Participants will also be requested to sign media consent forms to provide permission for photos and video to be taken (it is not required for you to provide permission in order to participate in the event).

Equipment
Fresh Air Experience will be providing limited free canoe rentals on a first come, first serve basis. Participants are encouraged to bring their own canoe, paddles and lifejackets if available. Others can rent canoes from the marina (limited numbers are available; the rental will be covered by your registration fee).

A limited number of adult lifejackets are available so participants are encouraged to bring their own.

Available lifejackets are one-size-fits-all so families will need to bring lifejackets for their children.

Prize Draw
Registrants will be automatically entered into a draw for a chance to win one of 2 Grey Owl Paddles generously donated by Fresh Air Experience. The prizes will be awarded at the event.
