Gladys McDonald Grade 7/8 Katepwa Lake Outdoor Ed Camp

The Grade 7&8 class went to Katepwa Lake Camp from May 16th-18th to embark on three days of fun-filled, educational activities.  Students were busy from early morning until well into the evening.  With activities such as canoeing, archery, wood burning, knitting, traditional toys and games, improv games, initiative tasks, volleyball, glow-in-the-dark games, nature hikes, unexpected run-ins with wildlife, skipping stones on the water, campfires, marshmallow and hotdog roasts, and various other games and activities - students never complained of being bored!

This camping trip has become a tradition at Gladys McDonald School, and the experiences and bonds that students build during the three days are priceless.  Teachers work around the clock to ensure the kids are safe while participating in various educational activities, and parent volunteers work tirelessly to keep everyone well-fed and hydrated!

Students and teachers work hard all year running different fundraising events in order to offset costs associated with camp (food, lodging, materials, etc.).  This year, the staff and students at Gladys McDonald would like to thank SaskOutdoors and Saskatchewan Lotteries for their generous grant  - combined with fundraising efforts, this trip was free for students which ensured all kids had an opportunity to participate in this year’s camp experience.

With another trip behind us, we are already getting excited about the next one!
